Science Units for the year
There are 3 science units planned for the school year we will spend about 3 weeks each quarter on social studies and about 6 weeks each quarter on science.
Unit 1 Properties of Matter
This unit covers basic concepts of science for a kindergartener helping them understand what is a scientist, how they can discover the world around them using their five senses and how to describe various things in their world using their sense of hearing, touch, sight, taste, and smell.
Unit 2 Weather
This unit allows the students to dive into the weather around them what is hot vs cold, water and water temperature, tools used to measure weather features, wind and wind speed, and a basic look at clouds.
Unit 3 Animals 2 X 2
This unit allows us to compare and contrast various common animals such as snails, fish, and worms. We look at the animal habitats, what they need to survive, and the parts of their bodies.
